Rugby Background:
Joined False Bay as an U20 and been a player and member ever since. Started playing rugby and cricket since I was 8 years old but rugby always remained my passion as it still is today.
Clubs:
False Bay, Rugby Roma ( Italy) and for 3 seasons Pirates in Kimberley
Position:
Fly Half and Centre. Most favourite and enjoyable position was without a doubt Fly Half
Rugby Philosophy:
To enjoy every moment on the field where one can express your individuality in a team environment and to build everlasting friendships
Life Philosophy:
To remain humble in whatever you have achieved in life and to listen to everyone no matter who they are, we all have a story to tell.
Rugby highlight as a Player:
Being chosen to represent WP and beating Maties 25-15 in front of 20,000 spectators at Newlands when they had all their Springbok and Provincial stars playing for them
Rugby Highlight in my role:
Experiencing the transformation of False Bay over the last 5 years from being an ordinary club participating in the league to being a powerhouse to be reckoned with in WP and nationally
Favourite Club Player:
During my playing days my very good friend Martin Jooste who is now in Australia. Currently my favourite player has to be Snoopy
Favourite Coach:
When I was still playing it has to be Basil Bey and over the last 5 years at False Bay no other than VD
How do you Chill?:
Carefree tropical island holidays and spending as much time with my granddaughter where possible
What are your aspirations for the Bay?
Winning the SL A and spreading the False Bay gees when competing in the Gold Cup later this year
What is it about the Bay that inspires you?
The selfless time and energy by everyone who gives back to the club in some way or another, especially the dedicated and hardworking Committee.
Who at False Bay inspires you?
For me there are 2 really hugely inspirational leaders namely our President Louis de Waal and our Chairman Gareth Jones. One cannot be mentioned without the other. Both are humble in their achievements as leaders at the Bay and are unconditionally passionate about False Bay as a club,
What do you do to relax/ other interests outside of rugby:
Spending quality time with my family
